I took some of mine own pictures in the chiaroscuro style. It took me a few attempts to get the light and dark contrast right. The top photo is the one I based my large painting on.
I started it in acrylic on a big board. I primed it in black first as the picture is mostly dark. It took a lot of layers of white before I could go into detail on the material. The colours are all shades of whites and greys so I was worried that the painting might look a bit boring but I'm pleased with the outcome.
